Weekly Club Notes – June 22nd 2019

SENIOR HURLING
The senior hurlers continued their fine form in the county senior hurling league div 1 as they defeated Moycarkey/Borris last weekend 1-20 to 0-20. This result leaves us top of the table and facing into a clash with Borris-Ileigh this weekend with a win or draw seeing us progress to the semi finals of the tournament. Throw in is at 12pm tomorrow(Sunday) in Borrisoleigh and admission is free so as many as possible as encouraged to attend to support the lads.

JUNIOR HURLING
Our junior hurlers played out a draw with Boherlahan-Dualla in their first game of the mid championship last weekend. Final score was 1-19 to 1-19

MINOR HURLING
Our minor hurling match v Thurles Sarsfields due to be played next Thursday has been postponed to a later date

ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC
The Upperchurch Drombane GAA Annual Golf Classic is back again on July 18th & 19th in Dundrum Golf & Country Club. Prices are unchanged with a team of 4 costing €200 which along with your round of golf also includes dinner afterwards & refreshments on the 9th hole. There will be an excellent range of prizes on offer with a top prize of 2 rounds of golf in Killarney & overnight accommodation for the winning team. MUNSTER FINAL TICKETS
No more ticket orders are being taken by the club for the Munster hurling final as we have reached our county board allocation of tickets.

MUNSTER LONG PUCK
Congrats to Pat Ryan who won the Munster Under 16 Long Puck in Ballyheigue Co Kerry last weekend. Best of luck to Pat as he now moves on to the All Ireland final.

LIGHT THE BOG FUNDRAISER
Today(Saturday) & tomorrow(Sunday) a 24 hour walk on the bog will be held as a culmination of the recent fundraising to Light the Bog. At 10.00 am Maura Armstrong will cut the ribbon and lead off the walk and people are encouraged to come down and join in the walk at some stage during the 24 hours. The GAA club will be taking part from 2am to 3:30am. The Cuardaioch Tent will be open all day where you can call in for a chat and a cuppa, try your hand at skittles, petanque, horseshoe throwing or maybe even a game of cards. Evening Vigil Mass and Blessing of the walk wil take place at 8:30pm followed by dancing to Phil Maher on the platform from 9:30pm to 12 midnight. Looking forward to a fun filled day on the bog !

CLUB MEMBERSHIP
Club membership for 2019 is now overdue. Anyone wishing to pay can do so either to club registrar JJ Kinane or online at http://www.upperchurchdrombanegaa.ie/members/ Prices remain unchanged from last year. €20 for all players between the ages of 16 to 18. €30 for all players between the ages of 18 to 21. €60 for all players over 21 years of age. €40 for all non playing members irrespective of age.
