Munster U18 1/2 Hurling
St. Joseph’s College Borrisoleigh , claimed their maiden victory in this year’s Dr.Harty “C” competition following a very comprehensive victory over local rivals Nenagh Vocational School, in very warm Dolla, on Wednesday last. Although the scoreline of 8-18 to 6 points rather flatters the victors they did not have it all their own way and were indeed very sloppy in possession and with their finishing particularly in the opening half.
They lead 2-09 to 5 points at the interval and were far from comfortable as Nenagh Vocational were giving their opponents lots of questions to answer particularly by applying a sweeper role in their defence. However St. Joseph’s managed to up the anti-following their half time team talk and a quick fire 2-3 inside the opening twelve minutes of the second half ultimately guaranteed victory as their forwards really began to find a clinical streak and take full advantage of the gaping holes in the Nenagh defence.
They will now face St.Colemans college Midleton in their final group game where a victory will ensure top spot in the group and secure automatic qualification through to the quarter finals of the competition.
There will be a new award at the SciFest 2014 national final which is to be held in the Marino Conference Centre, Griffith Avenue, Dublin on 7 November.
