North Tipp District League Preview: October 8th

Premier Division:

Thurles Town v Lough Derg
In this basement battle both teams will know a win here is crucial following a pointless start of the season with 8 games played between them. Both have conceded more goals than any other team in the Division and were comprehensively beaten last weekend with Thurles going down 8-2 to Roscrea at home and Lough Derg going down 4-1 away to Clodiagh Rangers. The Score Centre feels that Thurles might have the edge and maybe this week is the best chance of them getting our NTSC Prediction right in backing them. We see a close game with Thurles edging it.

NTSC Prediction:
Thurles Town

Roscrea United v Nenagh Afc
Game of the week

NTSC Prediction:
Will be given in Match Preview

Division 1:

Borroway Rovers v Moneygall FC
Borroway Rovers welcome Moneygall FC to Thurles in this intriguing affair. With promotion still in Rovers sights they know that slip ups must be kept at a minimum as they look at add to their 7 points in 5 games. They will be looking to both Keith and Jake Moore to add to their 3 League goals so far as they come up against a resilient Moneygall who put up a brave performance against a well fancied Streamstown Celtic last weekend. Michael Parlon will look to keep his good run of form going having captured the eye in recent weeks and Dwaine Collison will need to be once again commanding at centre half if they are to win this one.

NTSC Prediction:
Draw

Rearcross FC v Holycross Fc
Top of the table Holycross travel to Rearcross as they look to keep their 100% start to the season going (the only team in all divisions to do so), but they face a Rearcross side that only lost out on penalties to Premier Division side Sallypark Odhráns last week in the FAI Junior Cup. Holycross boasting some very young players this season have had to do without the prolific Jojo O’Meara in recent weeks but still have come out on top in league games thanks mostly to Calum O’Connor who has score some very important goals. With players like Kyle Denny supporting the younger lads Rearcross will have it all to do, but they themselves will look to John Ryan to add to his 3 goals this season. A close game in store for both teams here.

NTSC Prediction:
Draw

Nenagh Afc B v Ardcroney Fc
In what should be a one sided affair Nenagh will look to address last weekends loss to Borrisokane Fc as they know one more slip up will end any title aspirations for the season. Having scored more than anyone else, Willie Darcy (5), Alan Sheehan and Mikey Duff (3), it looks like their firepower will be too much for a steadily improving Ardcroney side who have yet to register a win this season. They will be hoping Ian McSherry’s recent vain of for can push them to their first win of the season.

NTSC Prediction:
Nenagh Afc B

Division 2:

Ballymackey Fc v BT Harps B
Leaders BT Harps B travel to Balinree to face 4th placed Ballymackey B in a match that neither can afford to lose in what is fast becoming the closest of all divisions. The home side boast the best defence in the league and will hope to make use of it against the likes of Dylan Loughnane, Willie and James Kavanagh who have all been in the goals recently. Ballymackey themselves have a huge firepower in the legendary Timmy Fleming who’s goals look like they’ll never dry up along with Niall McDonald, Robbie O’Gorman and Denis Haverty. Another close game and very hard to call but we will take a chance on this one.

NTSC Prediction:
Ballymackey Fc

Portumna FC v Nenagh Celtic B
Portumna host a Nenagh Celtic B side who have only mustered up a 4 points in their last 6 outings. Portumna in their last 3 games have got 7 points and will hope to add to that in an effort to go top this weekend. With Sean O’Meara and Garry Curran scoring freely along with Gary Hogan they will look to use them once again, Nenagh who have had 12 different scorers in the league so far, with Terry Delaney top scoring on 5, will want to find their early season for and pull off what would be a shock. Both sides have leaked plenty so far so goals look certain here.

NTSC Prediction:
Portumna FC

Roscrea United B v Nenagh AFC C
In the “lesser” Roscrea v Nenagh Afc Game of the day this will by no means be a drab affair as Nenagh who technically sit bottom of the table (Clodiagh cannot be Relegated whilst having another team in Division 3) are well capable of upsetting the odds after claiming a Premier Division scalp already this season. Roscrea though have been unpredictable in recent weeks  but one thing that hasn’t changed is their power to score goals. Marc Woods,  Stephen Murphy and Joe Callaghan (7 in all competitions) look to be in a keen battle for the teams top goalscorer award this season. We see only one winner here tho but maybe not as one sided as some might expect.

NTSC Prediction:
Roscrea United B

Cloughjordan B v Clodiagh Rangers B
This battle might indeed have come at a great time for Cloughjordan who have won their last 2 games to kick start their season and they play a Clodiagh Rangers side that have lost their last 4. Clodiagh who have no player with more than one league goal will struggle to hold out Dean O’Meara who has as many goals himself as all Clodiagh players put together. Only one winner here.

NTSC Prediction:
Cloughjordan FC

Division 3:

Lough Derg B v Clodiagh Rangers C
Clodiagh travel to Clarrisford Park to face the free scoring Lough Derg B. Clodiagh, who are no pushovers themselves will need Darragh Brennan to keep up his form and will also need David Considine to return to form. Lough Derg who are still reeling from their loss to Borrisokane B two weeks ago know that losing isn’t an option from here on in and showed that in last week’s 6-4 against a good Ballymackey B side. With Jamie Stuart and Eric Monaghan both on 9 league goals for the season they will be very confident here knowing that they have 13 other scorers in the league also.

Return Fixture:
Clodiagh 1-3 Lough Derg

NTSC Prediction:
Lough Derg B

Gurtagarry Fc v Shannon Rangers
Gurtagarry welcome Shannon to Latteragh on the back of an 11 game unbeaten start to the season. This one though will be a tough one and Gurta manager Johnny Moyles will not take it lightly. Both teams score for fun and between them have 6 players with 6 goals or more for the season with Paddy O’Rourke and Keith Kelly topping their respective teams list. Goals galore here with Gurta winning by the odd goal.

Return Fixture:
Shannon 2-3 Gurtagarry

NTSC Prediction:
Gurtagarry Fc

Streamstown Celtic B v Ballymackey Fc B

Reeling from last weekends 4-4 draw with Ballywilliam United after being 4-1 up Streamstown will look to bounce back this weekend over a Ballymackey B team that they beat in Balinree earlier in the season. With Murty Grimes continuing to score goals and Shane Carroll looking dangerous Ballymackey will have to be on high alert. Ballymackey on the other hand have goals galore in them with Martin Flynn (11), Kevin Mounsey (8) and Rory Mounsey (5) all on great form. An away win looks likely on current form but anything can happen in this Division,.

Return Fixture:
Ballymackey 2-3 Streamstown

NTSC Prediction:
Ballymackey Fc B

Ballywilliam United v Barnane Fc
Resurgent Ballywilliam host Barnane Fc this weekend in the hope that they’ll show the same grit and determination as last time out. They face a Barnane side that put 6 past bottom of the table Rearcross last weekend. With 14 different scorers this season Barnane will again fancy this one and try put distance between themselves and the bottom of the table.

Return Fixture:
Barnane 5-1 Ballywilliam

NTSC Prediction:
Barnane Fc

Sallypark Odhráns Fc B v Borrisokane Fc B
Borrisokane will look to bounce back after last week’s big loss to Gurtagarry Fc. Borrisokane will need Matt Power to be on form if they are to keep their title challenge alive and they won’t want to let Sallypark back into the promotion push. Eugene Foley is on fine form as of late and he will need to be at his very best to break this fine defence.

Return Fixture:
Borrisokane 1-1 Sallypark

NTSC Prediction:
Draw

Rearcross FC B v Templetuohy Fc
Kieran Devitt has been given the job to take Rearcross off the foot of the table as they entertain Templetuohy this weekend. Devitt with 6 goals has been their outstanding player but 9th place Templetuohy have their own reasons to fight for a win knowing they are edging desperately close to the bottom of the table. John Leahy and Tony Buston seem to be the likeliest outlet to goals.

Return Fixture:
Templetuohy P-P Rearcross

NTSC Prediction:
Templetuohy Fc
