WELL DONE
Well done to all our athletes who competed at the County Juvenile Uneven Age & Intermediate Cross Country Championships on Sunday 19th October in Moyglass. Our Boys U/9 had great success with individual medals for David Costigan (3rd) & Jack Hayes (7th) with Louie Coughlan 13th & Mark Drohan 39th & with these excellent placings, the team won a bronze medal. Not to be outdone by the boys, we also had excellent representation & results from our Girls U/9 with individual medals for Sarah Corcoran (5th), Sophie Coughlin (7th) & Ciara Shelly (12th) & 3rd team prize for the girls with Caoimhe Fitzgibbon helping the team by finishing in 16th place. Our second Girls U/9 team also did very well placing 5th overall with Rebecca Danagher (22nd), Kaithlyn Flanagan (23rd), Aoife Shelly (27th) & Holly Keily (35th) all running very well. In the Boys U/11 competition, Stephen Walsh had a great run to come home in 13th place, just outside the medals with Ronan O’Dwyer (35th) & Oisin Martin (37th) also running well. Our Girls U/11 competed well with Aeidin Johnston in 40th, Lucy O’Keefe in 41st & Shauna Flanagan in 45th place. Adam O’Dwyer put in a strong performance in the Boys U/13 race to place an excellent 4th & win an individual medal with good runs from newcomers, Cathal Corcoran in 32nd place & Rian Martin in 35th place. In the Boys U/15 race, our 3 athletes put in great efforts with Ben O’Dwyer finishing in 15th place with Darragh Fitzgibbon in 23rd & Bill O’Keefe in 24th place.
In the Intermediate Men’s race, we had two representatives, Shane Mullaney making his very welcome return home to the Club again & Paddy Cummins. Shane finished in 10th place with Paddy in 22nd place. Well done to both athletes on finishing so well.

CHILD WELFARE COURSE
Many thanks to all the Club members who attended the Child Protection in Sport Awareness Workshop in Littleton Sports Centre on Wednesday 15th October (thanks to Kay Cantwell for the lovely comfy surroundings & the refreshments, much appreciated). Thanks also to Athletics Ireland tutor, Kieron Stout who gave an excellent, highly informative & very practical course on the night. Keep up to date with all Child Welfare issues on the Athletics Ireland Child Welfare page at the link below. https://www.facebook.com/groups/aaichildwelfare/?ref=ts&fref=ts
Munster Athletics have organised a Child Welfare & Garda Vetting Talk for Friday 21st November 2014 @ 7.30pm in the Garda College, Templemore, Co. Tipperary. The evening is intended to be an informative & practical one, dealing with Child Welfare & Garda Vetting topics which are essential & mandatory for every County Board & Club to be familiar with in our current society. The speaker will be the very experienced Athletics Ireland Child Welfare Tutor, Kieron Stout & the talk will last approximately an hour & a half. As Child Welfare becomes an increasingly important element in our sport, it would be ideal if all Tipperary Clubs could have their Child Welfare Officers present (or at least one representative) so that all Clubs are up to date with all relevant information.
