Munster Final

Jerome Cahill made his championship debut last Sunday while Niall O’Meara also saw action in the second half. Tipperary must now take the scenic route in the All-Ireland championship. Best wishes to Niall, Jerome, Cian, Eamon, the Tipperary team and management as they regroup in pursuit of the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

Under 20

Best of luck to Craig Morgan (Captain), Jerome Cahill, Kian O’Kelly and the Tipperary team in the Munster semi-final against Waterford in Semple Stadium on Tuesday, 9th July at 7.30pm.

Primary Game

Cathal England Cloughjordan No 1 N.S. and Brian O’Meara Ardcroney N.S. lined out with the Tipperary Primary Game team last Sunday. It was a fantastic experience for Cathal and Brian to play in front of a capacity attendance.

Junior

In the third round MacDonaghs were well beaten 3-21 to 1-7 by a much better Borris-Ileigh side in Templederry.  Borris-Ileigh found the net in the first minute and were in control throughout the game. In the next round we face Burgess on this Friday, 5th July at 8.00pm. Venue to be confirmed.

Team: Niall Shinners, David Mooney, Shane Williams, Kevin Oakley, Alan Darcy, Declan Barrett, Gavin McAvinchey, Cormac Mannion, James Williams, Jonathan Cahill, Mark O’Meara, Luke Dervan, Conor Doheny (1-5, 0-4 from frees), Kevin Shinners (0-1) and Paddy Ryan. Subs: Louis Kennedy, Willie Cleary (0-1), Eoin England and jack Banaghan.

Minor

The championship begins with an away game against Silvermines on Wednesday, 10th July at 7.00pm.

Under 16

A home game against Borrisokane on Monday, 8th July gets this championship underway. Time to be confirmed.

Under 14

In the latest round of the championship MacDonaghs lost out to Ballinahinch/Templederry on a 1-11 to 2-5 scoreline. MacDonaghs played with the wind in the first half but it wasn’t until the final ten minutes of the game that they got going. Tom Austin made some great saves between the sticks and only for his display the margin of defeat could have been greater.

Team: Tom Austin, Eoin O’Neill, Colm McAteer, John Quinlisk, Simon Austin, Danny Cahalan, Cian Hayes, David Persse, Cathal England, Tristan Madden (0-2), Billy Harty (1-0), Brian O’Meara, Michael Cleary (0-3), John Hannan (1-0) and Tommy Burriss. Subs: Shane Cleary, Ray Quinlivan and Cathan Gaffney.

Under 12

Our three teams saw action last week. A late Cillian Healy point from a 65 saw De Wets (1-7) salvage a draw against Toomevara (2-4) in St. Michael’s Park. Kilruane travelled to Lacken Park and overcame Newport on a 5-4 to 1-4 scoreline while MacDonaghs saw off the challenge of Portroe in MacDonagh Park.

Under 10

On last Thursday we hosted Ballina for a blitz. On a beautiful evening for hurling we played three games. MacDonaghs had twenty-seven players in action. Thanks to Ballina for traveling.

Cul Camp

Our annual Kellogg’s Cul Camp commenced on Monday in MacDonagh Park with the now customary huge attendance.  More details next week.

Meeting

A meeting of the club committee will be held on this Thursday, 4th July at 9.00pm. All committee members are requested to attend.

Golf Classic

The club is organising a Golf Classic in Nenagh Golf Club on Friday, 19th July. Anybody who wishes to enter a team can call Gary 087-7496974. Tee-boxes can be sponsored by contacting Cronan 086-8663993. There is a total prize fund of €1,500. It costs €120 to enter a team of three.

Sympathy

The club extends sympathy to the Grace family, Rathnaleen on the death of Patricia (Pattie) Grace (née O’Brien).
