By Mark Dunne PRO

Intercounty: Pride of place this week goes to Paul Maher and the Tipperary Senior Hurling team on their emphatic All Ireland win over Kilkenny on Sunday. All of Moyne Templetuohy are very proud of Pauls effort this year and it is no more than he deserves. Well done Paul! No rest however as we have two more club stars in All Ireland U20 Final action this Saturday at 6pm in Limerick where they take on Cork. Best wishes to Conor and Gearoid.

Ladies Football: Another super weekend for the Tipp Intermediate Ladies Football following their win over Sligo in the All Ireland Final. The club congratulate Roisín and Muireann and we wish them the very best of luck as they take on Meath in the All Ireland Final in a few weeks time.

Kilmacud 7’s: Well done to a handful of our Intermediate team who travelled to Kilmacud Crokes on Saturday last to play in the coveted Kilmacud 7’s tournament. The lads had a super weekend playing Mullagh, St. Oliver Plunketts and Naomh Barróg along the way.

Fixtures: With the commencement of the Championship only around the corner, please note the following fixtures.

  • Round 2 of the County Intermediate Championship vs Ballinahinch Saturday August 31st at 2pm in Borrisoleigh.
  • Round 2 of the County Senior Football Championship vs Clonmel Commercials Tuesday August 27th at 6.45pm in Cashel
  • Mid Intermediate Hurling Semi Final vs Drom Inch Sunday September 15th at 12noon in Holycross.

Junior: Well done to our Junior Footballers who continued their good run of form in the County Championship where they earned a well deserved draw against Clonmel Óg in the final round game of the Championship. This sees us top the group. Well done to all!

Minor: Commiserations to our Minor Hurlers who exited the championship at the Semi Final stage on Thursday evening last, where they faced a strong and determined Upperchurch side. Our lads can be very proud of their efforts and our thanks go to Theo, Tom and William for their coaching throughout the year.

U12: Our U12’s had a day to remember recently when they took part in a Munster Blitz in Semple Stadium, where they played Murroe of Limerick, Lisgoold of Cork and Moycarkey Borris. Following the games the team was treated to a tour of the stadium by local GDA Andy Ryan. A day to remember for these kids in the run up to the All Ireland. Our thanks to all concerned for organizing a super day.

U11: The U11 shield begins in earnest this week where we have two involved in the league. Our Group 2 team take on Moycarkey Borris on Tuesday in Templetuohy at 7pm. While our Group 4 team have a bye this coming week.

U9: Well done to our U9’s who travelled to Tinryland GAA Club in Co. Carlow for a football blitz. Our thanks to the Tinryland Club for the invite. A super day of football was had by all!

Defibrillator Run: Moyne Templetuohy Defibrillator Group is running a 5km fun run/walk to raise much needed funds for the upkeep of the defibrillators in the parish. These are vital piece of equipment in the parish and we urge you to show your support in any way possible. The run takes place on September 1st at 12noon at Moyne Athletic Track.

Sympathies: Moyne Templetuohy GAA Club would like to extend its sincere sympathies to the Purcell family Moyne on the death of Billy. May he rest in peace.
