Galway Short Film wins award from Irish Film London

Adulting is a short film based around the social anxieties that we all meet today and whilst fitting it into a traditional, rural, environment. Filmed in Galway City and Conamara, writer Linda Breathnach (Ros na Rún, Corp agus Anam) explained that “I wanted to do something that speaks for my generation and that shows the West in a way that’s not twee or clichéd”, fusing old traditions such as going to the bog, with the younger experiences of life online.

The opening monologue sets the scene for the main character, Jane, who returns home to Connemara after a heart break abroad. With a strong cast including Sean T. Ó Meallaigh (Vikings, Klondike), the recent Best Short Film Award is no doubt an acknowledgement of the talent coming from the West.

Premiered earlier this year at the Galway Film Fleadh, Londoners will now have their chance to catch the film during a screening with at the Irish Film Festival London on Wednesday November 23 at 7pm in Regent Street Cinema, as part of the festival’s Best of Irish Short Films Programme.
