At Kilbeggan on Friday evening, trainer Andy Slattery was quickly into his stride when winning the first two races on the card. He landed the mares’ maiden hurdle with Whosgotyanow which made all the running under County Limerick conditional rider Cathal Landers. The Dr Ronan Tynan-owned 11/2 chance which beat Sam Curling’s Belles Benefit by a cosy five lengths.
A length and three-parts was the winning margin as Voice Of Hope took the maiden hurdle over the same distance to give Thurles conditional rider Cian Quirke his first winner. Unsaddling the 100/30 chance, Quirke said, “That means everything to me. I’m with Andy four days a week and John Ryan two days and I get into another couple of yards in the evening as well.”
The winning trainer’s brother Willie added, “Cian is a good young fellow and a brilliant worker. It’s great to get him off the mark.”
