The FBD Insurance County Tipperary senior, intermediate and junior football championships were the focus of attention at county level in the past week as the group stages came to a close.
In the FBD Insurance County Tipperary senior football championship the top seeds and group winners through to the quarter finals are – Clonmel Commercials, JK Brackens, Loughmore-Castleiney and Moyle Rovers. Runners up are Arravale Rovers, Ballyporeen, Cahir and Upperchurch-Drombane. The following then are the quarter-final pairings to be played on the weekend of September 28/29. On Saturday 28th Loughmore-Castleiney v Arravale Rovers in Cashel at 3:30pm. Then on Sunday 29th at 12:30pm JK Brackens v Upperchurch-Drombane in Templetuohy. At 2pm which in the first of a double header in Ardfinnan, Clonmel Commercials and Ballyporeen meet, while Moyle Rovers and Cahir line out against each other at 3:30pm.
In the FBD Insurance County Tipperary intermediate football championship the top seeds are Golden-Kilfeacle, Clonmel Commercials, Rockwell Rovers and Drom-Inch. Runners up are Moyle Rovers, Moycarkey-Borris, Clonmel Óg and Clonoulty-Rossmore. The quarter final parings again on the weekend of September 28/29 are as follows. On Saturday 28th there is a double header in Cahir where Clonmel Commercials and Moyle Rovers meet at 2pm, followed by the game between Rockwell Rovers and Moycarkey-Borris at 3:30pm. Elsewhere, on Saturday, Golden-Kilfeacle and Clonoulty-Rossmore meet at 2pm in Cashel. Then on Sunday September 29th, Drom-Inch meet Clonmel Óg in Clonouty at 12 noon.
The quarter final pairings in the FBD Insurance Seamus Ó Riain Cup have also been made and are as follows; Holycross-Ballycahill v Carrick Swan, Mullinahone v Silvermines, JK Brackens v Ballingarry and Templederry Kenyons v Cashel King Cormacs.
On the county scene this Saturday, September 21st, in the FBD Insurance County Junior (A) Football Championship Group 5 Playoff – Rd 1 in Cloneen, Clerihan play Ballingarry with the winners meeting Boherlahan-Dualla in the playoff final next Wednesday, September 25th in New Inn at 7:30pm.
At divisional level, the Clonmel Oil South Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final saw victory go to Mullinahone on Sunday evening last when they defeated Carrick Swan 1-18 to 1-16.
The next divisional senior hurling final is this weekend as the Tipperary Co-Op West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final goes ahead on Sunday next, September 22nd in Bansha where Clonoulty-Rossmore and Éire Óg Annacarty-Donohill line up at 3pm.
Also, this Sunday September 22nd, in the Centenary Agri Mid Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship both semi-finals are down for decision in Holycross. First up its Moycarkey-Borris and Upperchurch-Drombane at 2pm followed by the meeting of JK Brackens and Drom-Inch at 3.45pm.
The Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals go ahead on Sunday next as well, as part of a double header in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh. Kiladangan and Templederry Kenyons are first into action at 2pm while Borris-Ileigh and Burgess meet at 3.30pm.
