Club Notes 26/08/19

Inter County: Pride of place this week must go to our two clubmen Conor Bowe and Gearoid O’Connor who brought back two more coveted All Ireland medals to the parish following their emphatic win over Cork. We could not be happier for the two lads and we congratulate them on all they have achieved. All pictures thanks to Billy Loughnane.

Senior Football: Our Senior Footballers travelled to Golden last Sunday evening where they faced Clonmel Commercials in Round 2 of the championship. With a few lads unable to make it we faced a strong Clonmel side who eventually ran out winners. We have one game remaining in the Football Championship and it’s a vital journey to Clonoulty where we take on Arravale on September 8th at 12noon.

Intermediate: All roads lead to Borrisoleigh this Saturday at 2pm where we face Ballinahinch in round 2 of the County Intermediate Hurling Championship. This is a huge game for the club and we urge all supporters to make the short journey to Borrisoleigh and don your green and gold. Also on September 15th at 12noon in Holycross we face Drom/Inch in the Mid Semi Final. Keep the date free!

Junior: We now know our opponents for the Mid Junior B Final. We will face Drom/Inch with all details TBC at Monday nights CCC. Please see Club Social Media for game details.

Flagbearer: Congratulations to JP Moore of Moyne who was a flagbearer for Saturdays All Ireland U20 Final. Well done JP!

U13: Our U13’s begin their shield competition this coming Thursday where they face JK Brackens in Templemore at 6.45pm.

U11: Well done to our U11 Group 2 team who defreated Moycarkey in Round 1 of the shield. They now face Gortnahoe in Round 2 on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in Templetuohy. Our Group 4 team take on JK Brackens today Monday at 6.30 in Clonmore.

Ladies Football: Well done to Ellen, Cathy and Rachel who were part of the Tipp U17 Ladies Football team who emerged winners in today’s All Ireland Blitz. Well done girls!

O’Neills: O’Neills have added a new product to our online store. The solar poly shorts are similar to the ormond shorts which have pockets in them. Remember that with every online purchase a percentage of it comes back to the club

Stewards: The club has two big County Championship games coming up this Sunday at 5pm and 6.30pm. The club require stewards to be at these games. If you are available to steward for any length of time please text PRO Mark Dunne on 0870672132 ASAP.

Defibrillator Run: Moyne Templetuohy Defibrillator Group is running a 5km fun run/walk to raise much needed funds for the upkeep of the defibrillators in the parish. These are vital piece of equipment in the parish and we urge you to show your support in any way possible. The run takes place this Sunday September 1st at 12noon at Moyne Athletic Track.

SENIOR HURLING
We resumed county hurling action last weekend with a close and exciting clash against Burgess. A nip and tuck first half saw us take a 3 point lead into the break and we maintained this advantage till a Burgess goal midway through the second levelled proceedings. From there on points were traded until Burgess took a 2 point lead approaching full time. But our lads found an extra gear to fire over 3 unanswered points and claim the win 0-21 to 1-17. With Loughmore & Nenagh playing out a draw in the other group game it leaves the table very tight. Nenagh on 3 pts, Upperchurch & Loughmore on 2 pts and Burgess on 1 pt.
Tomorrow(Saturday) we play our final county group round against Loughmore-Castleiney at 5pm in Templetouhy. The winners will progress to the knockout stages. Best of luck to the players and hoping for good support to cheer them on. The mid quarter final against Thurles Sarsfields is scheduled for Sunday Sept 15th at 2pm in The Ragg.

SENIOR FOOTBALL
Next Wednesday we face off against Éire Óg Annacarty in our final county group game with the winner qualifying for the county quarter finals. This match is fixed for Dundrum at 6pm and it would be great to see a big turnout there.

SENIOR HURLING
Our senior hurlers progressed to the division 1 county hurling league final with a solid victory over Roscrea in the semi final last Sunday. 12 first half wides from us saw Roscrea take a 2 point lead into the break but a Loughlin Ryan goal right at the start of the second half put us into the lead. Roscrea responded well and midway through the second half they still maintained a 2 point lead, even though they were reduced to 14 men. The final quarter was all Upperchurch though, reeling off 11 points to Roscrea’s 2 to leave the final score 1-18 to 0-14. We now face local rivals Drom & Inch in the league final which will be played next Wednesday at 7:30pm in Templetouhy. All support is welcome as we look to claim county silverware.
