“The Tidy Town competition is one of the truly great examples of community spirit in this Country. Each year for the past 56 years it has energised thousands of individuals from every county to bring out the best in their own localities.

This year was no exception and it was a delight to see so many Gold, Silver and Bronze awards given to Tipperary communities like Emly, Clonmel, Birdhill and Kilsheelan.

I was especially pleased to see my good friend from Cahir, Mr Seamus Conway receive an individual Tidy Town Hero Award.

Each year we see the huge reserves of local pride that exist in our communities and it is a very encouraging sign to see that that pride growing from strength to strength,” concluded Deputy McGrath.
