Murder victims sister gives evidence in Tipperary trial

Court hears of plans to sort out differences.

Shane Rossiter’s sister’s told the Central Criminal Court that the 31 year old man accused of shooting him dead said he was planning to sort out his differences with her brother.

Maurice Power of Dranganbeg, Kilmoyler, Cahir has pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Rossiter following house party in Golden, Co Tipperary on October 17, 2012.

Giving evidence Jenna Rossiter said her brother had moved home from Australia 6 weeks before his death and had been staying with her in Dublin while flat hunting . On September 15th 2009 they attended her son’s christening in Clonmel where she bumped into the accused who she hadn’t seen in years.

Ms Rossiter told the court that Maurice Power tried to put his arm around her and said that he and Shane were going to meet to sort out their differences.

Shane’s Rossiter’s brother Neil also recounted a similar meeting and explained to the jury that the pair had grown up together and were good friends at one stage but there was times they didn’t get on.

He also said that he and Shane bumped into Mr Power – who was driving a black Audi A4 with black tinted windows -on the evening before the killing and that the two had a brief conversation but there was no tension.

Another witness who had heard the shots agreed under cross examination that there was no shouting or roaring and no cars were going in or out.

The trial earlier heard that a black Audi A4- registered to the Mr Power’s partner was burnt out in a bog in Waterford shortly after the shooting
