Borris-Ileigh GAA Notes – Oct 8th

Senior Hurling: Well done to our senior hurlers who defeated Silvermines on Saturday afternoon in Nenagh. Needing to win by 7 points our lads didn’t fail to disappoint and ran out convincing winners on a 1-26 to 0-19 points scoreline. The win ensure we qualified from the group stage of the county championship and sets us up in a last 16 knock out match with Burgess on Sunday in Toomevara at 3pm. The game will be preceeded by Loughmore and Ballina.

We will now play Sean Treacys/Emly in the county final on Saturday. The time and venue have yet to be released but we will let members know as soon as possible

Camogie: Our intermediate camogie team made it 3 wins from 3 over the weekend, defeating Kilruane in the county semi final. The girls will now play Drom in the county final in The Ragg on Saturday at 1:30pm

Juvenile: Well done to our U16 hurlers who defeated Loughmore Castleiney 2-12 to 3-06 in the Ragg last Saturday morning in the Co U16 semi final. Borris lead at the break on a scoreline of 9pts to 5pts. Goals were plentiful in the second half with two Borris goals from Dan Brooks and James Devaney matched by three Loughmore goals. Borris however did enough to hold on as winners and will now play a combination side Emly / Sean Treacys next Saturday in the Co Final. Fixture to be confirmed. Your support would be appreciated.

The Annual Mick Prior U10 Tournament took place last week end. In the first round Drom Inch defeated Upperchurch and Moneygall defeated Borris Ileigh. The final between Drom Inch and Moneygall proved to be a very exciting game with Drom Inch taking advantage of the breeze in the first half to go into a 4 point lead at half time. Moneygall battled hard in the second half and a couple of early points brought them right back into the game. Drom & Inch rallied with two further goals Moneygall rallied again with a further goal and a couple of points. Drom ran out as winners by the narrowest of margins. The plate final was also a close contest with Borris Ileigh emerging as winners by two points. Sean Prior on behalf of the Prior family presented medals to players on all four teams and the Mick Prior Cup to the Drom Inch Captain Paul Mullen. Thanks to all four clubs, the referees supporters and parents who made it an enjoyable mornings hurling.
