Minister Varadkar has formally launched the next stage of the Government’s online services which is this new road transport operator’s licence website rtol.ie. This new rtol.ie website allows road haulage and road passenger transport operators to apply for and manage their licences online.  It is one of Minister Varadkar’s key priorities for 2014 and is in line with the eGovernment and Public Service Reform plans. The website also offers a search facility that allows members of the public to check whether a particular operator or vehicle is licensed,” explained Deputy Coonan.

The launch of rtol.ie follows the Department’s successful motortax.ie website. Motortax.ie is currently processing around 265,000 tax discs every month, for a whole range of vehicles. Almost 70% of all motor tax renewals are now done online, compared to just 20% in 2004. Since the launch of motortax.ie, a total of 17 million tax discs have been issued online.
