Some more footpath repair works commenced again this week on the R503 at Cork Road Newport to Briarfield. This follows on from previous footpath repairs carried out over the last three years. The contractor will then move to the Silvermines to commence more footpath repairs on the Main Street and the Old Road.
An upgrade from gravel to a concrete finish will be also carried out on the section of footpath from the entrance of the Riverside Park in Ballina to the entrance to the car park at the Goosers.

Roadworks will be commencing at the Black Road in Newport and from the hurling field to the bridge at the square in Newport over the coming weeks and the Main Street in Ballina will also be completed.
Roadworks will also be commencing in the Silvermines Village at the Old Road and Main Street and in Killoscully Village over the coming weeks.

The tender documentation for Newport Town Park and Playground will be advertised at the end of this month. Some groundwork with regards to bore hole testing has commenced already at the site.

The council have this week appointed a consultant to progress with the design of an Urban Enhancement Scheme for the square area of Newport Town and have appointed a contractor for the under grounding of Eircom overhead lines crossing road pavement at Main Street Ballina and the Shallee Culvert Replacement Scheme.
