Brave Borris miss out against resilient Greystones

Greystones 2 St Kevin’s 0

Under 15 National Cup Last 32

St Kevin’s travelled to Greystones today for their match to reach the last 16. Kevin’s started the match brightly and took the game to Greystones. After 20 mins Kevin’s were dealt a sucker punch when against the run of play Greystones took the lead with a very good finish. Kevin’s tried hard to get the equaliser before halftime but couldn’t.

The 2nd half started at a frantic pace with both teams going at it leading to both teams playing some very good football at times. Kevin’s thought we had a penalty when the referee blew for a foul but awarded the free on the line instead of the penalty. With Kevin’s pushing on for an equaliser Greystones got their 2nd with 5 minutes left.

Kevin’s pushed again for a goal and were unlucky not to pull a goal back. Kevin’s lost nothing in defeat today and left everything on the pitch with every player giving 100% effort and commitment today.

St Kevin’s would like to thank all the support that we got today from supporters making the journey to Greystones. St Kevin’s would like to thank Greystones for their hospitality and wish Greystones all the best for the rest of the national cup
