Ballymackey Underage Football Notes – March 15

Ballymackey U14As lost a Tuesday Night fixture to Knigh United on a 3-2 score line. At the midpoint of the game Ballymackey trailed 3-0. A storming second half performance saw Ballymackey force their way back into the game with goals from Mickayla Doran and Aoibhín Delaney but for the second week in a row the clock was the enemy of a comeback with time running out as  Ballymackey pushed strongly for an equaliser. Ballymackey were well served by the entire squad that played the match.

Ballymackey under 14 A

Eileen Gleeson was as usual solid in defence and had a comfortable second half in goal, Laura O Meara displayed a huge work rate in Midfield and defence. Sarah Hallinan’s fine form of late continued with another fine contribution, Mickayla Dorans goal was due reward for a box to box midfield performance, Phoebe Kelly and Aoife Ward had excellent performances in midfield and attack, Elleen Cunnen and Aoibhín Delaney both operated in defence and midfield to huge effect, Niamh Cunneen was a constant attacking threat  taking players on and beating them she was desperately unlucky to have one super shot from distance from her cannon back off the crossbar with the keeper bet.

But the player of the match was defender Laura McCarthy who defended superbly and surged forward leaving opponents trailing in her wake as she tied them up in knots with her quick feet.
