Morris says Sinn Féin Manifesto offers hope of fairer recovery to Tipperary

Sinn Féin’s Tipperary General Election candidate Cllr. Séamie Morris has welcomed the publication of the Sinn Féin Manifesto 2016, and complimented all involved for the production of a document offering a vision of a recovery that is fairer than that offered by others.

Cllr Morris said: “In this State it is far too easy to be marginalised and left behind. As the gap between rich and poor continues to grow, it’s a great reassurance to those struggling to make ends meet that there is one party that has them in mind.”

“In a county with a Minister who announces jobs by the bucket-load, it’s easy to be fooled into thinking that all of those jobs come with a good pay packet. Sadly, far too many of the new jobs produced by foreign companies coming in only pay quite poorly. That’s if the jobs materialise at all, since we’re still waiting to see most of them despite the brashness of the announcements..”

“Just as the schedule for delivery for all those announcements is far in the future, so also is the prospect of young people getting on the housing ladder and starting their own families. The Sinn Féin Manifesto offers a clear solution to the difficulty of high childcare costs. That Manifesto even goes so far as to outline a path whereby workers in the Childcare sector can progress their qualifications to degree level while retaining employment.”

“In a county like Tipperary which is more rural than urban, Sinn Féin haven’t forgotten the farmers and hard-pressed rural communities who feed our population in the cities. The Sinn Féin Manifesto outlines an end of the policies that have heartlessly targeted our rural regions, which have suffered disproportionately from cuts and, as a result, emigration. This has been a direct result of the policies of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Labour Party, who have no comprehension of the hardship endured by too many in the farming sector.”

“I grew up on a small farm in North Tipperary, so I can easily relate to the problems faced. Because of that, I am especially pleased that we can continue our commitment to rural-proofing State policies, and to fight for rural equality. Our countryside suffers a complete lack of investment, especially in infrastructure and enterprise.”

“Sinn Féin’s vision continues to be for an Ireland of equals, and an Ireland that is good for working families, whether urban or rural based.”

“It’s clear from our Manifesto that Sinn Féin continues to take the time to develop meaningful and innovative proposals. The Fianna Fáil policies implementing by Fine Gael and Labour have devastated public services and businesses, and now they think they can buy us off with their give-away gimmicks and we’ll forget the devastation. Instead we have an historic opportunity to vote for innovation and new thinking, as a means of achieving more than just minimum-wage employment”

“Sinn Féin’s plan will deliver a fairer recovery, not just for Tipperary but for rural Ireland.”
