“The Commercial Incentive Scheme 2016/2017 offers a grant payable equivalent to 75% of rates paid by a person or company for year one, 50% for year two and 25% for year three. I am pleased to see it has been rolled out on an all county basis and harmonised throughout the county.

This initiative was already in place in the southern part of the county and now people and companies in areas such as Roscrea, Templemore, Thurles and Nenagh will also benefit. It represents equal measures for all in Tipperary which is essential for competitiveness in business and job creation,” said Deputy Coonan.

The scheme has been designed and developed to reduce the number of vacant retail units and stimulate a differing and engaging retail mix and experience by limiting the risk associated with the establishment of a new retail business and providing an entry point to entrepreneurs wishing to start-up in the retail industry. It also aims to assist in job creation.

“I am always pushing for easier business for people in Tipperary and this will help restore vitality to our towns,” concluded Deputy Coonan.
