Tipperary Gardai have issued an alert after two people were relieved of 2,000 euro from their bank accounts in a mobile phone scam.
Both were sent texts claiming to be from their bank and had clicked on a link giving the criminals access to their accounts. One person in Nenagh saw 600 euro vanish while a Roscrea victim had 1,400 euro stolen.
Gardai are advising people to be vigilant. Banks frequently warn they never ask customers to click on a link in a text message to log in to your account.
Anyone who has done so should contact their bank and the Gardai.
