The summer essentials that everyone will be wearing this season.
Ditch those dreadful tights ladies and dare to bare your beautiful pins. Summer 2014 is officially here and although we may not be blessed with the summer sun on this island, we still want to dress in season. Here are the top trends that are fresh off the runway and onto our high-street stores.
The Biker Jacket
The biker jacket has been around for years and it has proved itself as a wardrobe essential. The more fitted the jacket the better, the oversized biker jacket was an 80’s trend and should stay in the 80’s! So why not brave a new hue (any colour but black for summer) and let the compliments roll in.

Layer Your Jewellery
Coco Channel famously said “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take something off”, but this is clearly a trend of the past with celebrities such as designer Liseanne Frankfurt defying the classic dictum. Layering your jewellery may seem very “rock chick” but if worn correctly can be very elegant. To achieve this look all you need are a few different length necklaces, all the same colour is recommended. Start off by putting one on top of the other until your desired look is achieved and voila, there you have it-a designer look that doesn’t cost a penny. You can also layer bracelets and stack rings on top of each other.

The Full/Tea Length Skirt
This very ladylike and princess skirt is here to stay. It may not be to everyone’s taste but think twice before you ditch it. The best thing about the full skirt is that it accentuates the waist and paired with a crop top will automatically make you look taller.

Pretty Pastels
With a rainbow of soft summery shades, there is a pastel colour to suit everyone. Pastel coloured clothes are fashionable and most definitely not infantile. Designers Jason Wu and Rebecca Taylor modernized pastels this year into elegant spring/summer wear that can be worn anywhere from the office to lunchtime with the girls.

Pearly Whites
White was a standout shade across catwalks this year. With models dressed from head in crisp whites at Victoria Beckham and Herrera, it’s obvious that white on white is a major trend for summer. White is a blank canvass with so many different ways of styling it. If you’re wearing white why not add a pop of colour to it (a fuchsia pink for example) and watch heads turn.
