Lacklustre Tipp Beaten By Limerick In Munster Opener

Munster Senior Championship

Limerick 1-23

Tipperary 2-14

Tipperary’s start to the new Munster Championship Round Robin format ended in defeat today, in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, against a spirited Limerick side.

In truth, Tipperary didn’t look up to the task despite leading at half time by a point, thanks to a Dan McCormack goal against the run of play.

Limerick came out for the second half and dominated throughout, taking a three point lead before a Jason Forde goal levelled proceedings on the fifty minute mark. The Shannonsiders pulled away after this and went on to win the game by six points as a late Barry Murphy goal ended the game as a contest, and running out deserved winners.

There was much suprise around the Premier county during the week regarding Micheal Ryan’s selection’s for the game and the surprise will now turn to blame as they now face Cork in Semple Stadium next Sunday.

Scorers For Tipp: John McGrath 0-02. Jason Forde 1-09, Dan McCormack 1-00, Noel McGrath 0-02, John O’Dwyer 0-01
