Grandstand View

The residents of Marlfield Village and the road to Knocklofty will have a grandstand view of the cycle racing on Sunday morning the 27th of May. The Clonmel Cycle Club are holding the circuit of the bridges race which has Marlfield in its core. The cycles will be starting at the Marlfield Estate entrance and circuiting the loop from the Knocklofty Bridge to the Convent Bridge in Clonmel. The racing starts at 10am and will consist of four circuits travelling from the villge to Knocklofty each time. The entire event should be finished in about two hours and the general public are asked to cooperate with the safety marshalling during that period. The initial cycle to the start is via the Pondside and please park appropriately to ensure the smooth flow of cycles and the accompanying vehicles.

Pondside Bins

The use of the litter bin at the bird feeding area on the pondside is causing concern and annoyance. The litter bin is for the use of small amounts of litter and is not a collection or drop off point for household litter. There has been a continual misuse of this facility recently as some misinformed individuals are using it to dispose of small amounts of general household waste. The village volunteers have to clean and remove at least twice each weekend to ensure that vermin do not feast on its contents. The village notes that the persons are acting in environmentally friendly way when they could have chucked the rubbish over the nearest ditch and we ask the local authorities to provide a public skip at an agreed location for use outside of public disposal hours.
