Tipperary TD Noel Coonan Urges Tipperary Health Services Groups to Apply for Funding

Tipperary TD Noel Coonan is urging Tipperary community groups and voluntary organisations with an involvement in the provision of health services to apply for a Department of Health National Lottery Discretionary fund which provides once-off grants.

Noel CoonanDeputy Coonan said: “The closing date for receipt of lottery grant applications is the 31st July. The Department is providing once-off grants totalling €3.286million to organisations nationwide providing a range of health related services. Several Tipperary organisations were successful last year receiving funding up to €50,000.”

“Applications come primarily from community groups and voluntary organisations with an involvement in the provision of health services to specific client groups; for example persons with an intellectual disability and/or physical disability, elderly, etc. Applications are also welcome from national groups providing information and support for various disabilities and illnesses and groups with a specific interest; for example to provide holidays for elderly, respite, equipment for hospitals, homes, etc.

“Application for National Lottery funding must be made using a standard application form. This form can be downloaded from the Department’s website or a copy can be requested from my office. Groups must give their tax number, the name of the tax office dealing with their affairs and must certify that their tax affairs are in order. Applicants will be asked to describe the project for which the funding is being sought.

“This is a very worthwhile grant scheme that provides beneficial funding to numerous Tipperary groups providing meaningful help to people in various health services. If anyone has any queries please fee free to call my office,” concluded Deputy Coonan.
