SENIOR FOOTBALL
We claimed an impressive victory in the county championship last weekend with a fine second half display against the 2017 county finalists Killenaule in Littleton. It was Killenaule who started the game sharply and by the 12th minute they were 1-2 to 0-0 ahead. Upperchurch clawed their way back into the game with the next 4 points but were hit with a sucker blow of conceding another goal and we trailed by 3 points at the interval. Killenaule picked up where they left off immediately from the restart with a quick point but the course of the game changed completely after this as Upperchurch reeled off 1-7 without reply in the final 30 minutes to claim victory by 6 points. Final score was 1-12 to 2-3. Upperchurch scorers were Paul Shanahan 0-6(6f), Padraig Greene 1-1, Colm Stapleton 0-2, Jack Butler 0-2(1f) and Loughlin Ryan 0-1. This leaves us in a strong position in the group and means the victors in our final group game against Eire Óg Anacarty will advance to the knockout stages. This match is fixed for Dundrum on Wed Sept 11th at 6pm.

SENIOR HURLING
The hurling championship gets back into full swing with us guaranteed to be playing the next 3 weekends. It all starts with our second round of the county championship on Sunday Sept 1st against Burgess at 2:30pm in The Ragg. This is part of a double header with Loughmore v Nenagh throwing in at 1pm. Best of luck to the lads and it would be great to see a big local support there. We then play our final county group round against Loughmore-Castleiney on Saturday Sept 7th at 5pm in Templetouhy. Following these 2 fixtures is our mid quarter final against Thurles Sarsfields scheduled for Sunday Sept 15th at 2pm in The Ragg.
