MacCarthy Cup

Rory McLoughney, Ardcroney had the honour of bringing the Liam MacCarthy Cup out on to the Croke Park pitch before the start of the All-Ireland. He was assisted by the Kilkenny representarive from the Tullaroan club. This was a very special day for Rory, his family, his local school in Ardcroney and the MacDonaghs club. Rory is a grandnephew of All-Ireland medal winner Tom McLoughney.

Blue & Gold

Thanks to all our supporters who flew the Blue & Gold throughout the parish and participated enthusiastically in the very successful Tipperary Day on Friday, 16th August. With so many from the MacDonaghs club involved in the Tipperary setup it was no surprise that a huge contingent from the parish travelled to Croke Park for the final.

Under 20

Best of luck to Craig Morgan, Jerome Cahill, Kian O’Kelly, the Tipperary team and management in the All-Ireland final against Cork.

Under 16

MacDonaghs qualified for the semi-final with a 4-15 to 3-9 victory over Burgess in Kilcolman. Lorhha/Rovers Gaels will provide the opposition in the semi-final on this Wednesday, 21st August at 6.30pm. Venue TBC.

Under 12

A 3-4 to 2-2 victory over Rosegreen secured a place in the County ‘C’ final. The teams were tied on 1-2 each at the interval but against the wind in the second half MacDonaghs got the better of a determined Rosegreen outfit.  Tommy O’Meara notched 1-1 while Jack Kenneally (1-0), Gerard O’Looney (1-0), Cormac Kennedy (0-2) and Charlie Kennedy (0-1) also got their names on the scoresheet. In the County final they will face Clerihan.

Under 10

Last Wednesday evening our U10s made the journey to the Banner county to take on Clarecastle. On a damp evening our boys played some outstanding hurling. We had a panel of 23 players. Thanks very much to Clarecastle for invitiation and refreshments afterwards.

Nuptials

Congratulations to former MacDonaghs player Thomas Hayes and Laura Paterson on their recent marriage.
