This was a much-improved performance by the team who led led by 1-9 to 0-7 at the break with the goal coming from James Loughnane. MacDonaghs took the lead in the opening minutes after Silvermines were first on the scoreboard. They held the advantage until added time when the home team scored the equaliser from a free. Team: Kevin McDonald, Eoin O’Meara, Louis Kennedy, Paul O’Neill, David O’Sullivan, Páidí Williams (0-4), Niosa Minogue, Aaron Morgan (0-2), Matthew Moyles, Nathan Lynch (0-7), Kian O’Kelly, Matthew Spain (0-2), Eoin Carroll, James Loughnane (1-1) and Cormac Doheny.  On this Wednesday, 15th August we play Moneygall/Clonakenny in MacDonagh Park at 7.00pm.

Congratulations to our second team and management that won the North ‘C’ final with a 2-8 to 1-5 victory over Newport in Toomevara. This was a tremendous performance by the team with all thirteen layers playing their part. This is an 11-a-side competition but both teams agreed to play 12-a-side. MacDonaghs had the opening score of the game when Charlie Kennedy raised a white flag in the first minute. Newport responded immediately with a similar score before taking the lead with a pointed free a minute later. In the fourth minute Charlie Kennedy raised a green flag to put the Magpies into a lead they would not surrender. In the ninth minute the influential Tommy O’Meara found the net and at the break the scoreboard read 2-5 to 0-3 in favour of the boys in black and white.

On the resumption Newport had the aid of the diagonal breeze and enjoyed a greater share of the possession. However, the Kilruane backs defended stubbornly in front of goalkeeper Andrew Austin who had an outstanding game between the sticks. Newport had to wait until the 19th minute to find the net and by then it was too little too late. After the game captain Darragh White received the trophy from Philip Delaney, secretary of North Tipperary Coiste na nÓg. Team: Andrew Austin, Darragh White, Shay Óg Kennedy, Cormac Kennedy (1-3), Stasik Setikas, Tommy O’Meara, Fiachradh Ahearne, Jack Kenneally, Donnacha O’Meara, Michael Hennelly and Charlie Kennedy (1-3). Sub: Gerard O’Looney.

On this Saturday, 17th August they play the West champions Rosegreen in the County semi-final in Borrisoleigh at 1.00pm.
