It was another very hot day in Tipp as motorcyclist arrived from many parts of Ireland for the annual fundraiser for South Tipperary Hospice and Tipperary town Red Cross, the gathering and starting point was the Tipperary Town Plaza on the Limerick Rd and from early in the week committee members were very busy decorating the Plaza with flags and bunting etc, and from 10.00am today Frances O Brien, Rosie Finnan, Jack Leonard and their crew were putting the final touches to their event and preparing for registration. There were all makes and shapes of bike’s and some vintage cars, it was also very much family orientated with Mickey Mouse and other characters entertaining the kids.
With around 160 bikes taking part, it was always going to be a great success, it was a very scenic route going through West Tipperary and South Limerick, taking in the Glen of Aherlow, Rossadrehid, Anglesborough, Ballylanders, Garryspillane, Emly, Lattin and back to Tipperary town. We had two water breaks and a big thanks to Kevin and Michelle Lane in Anglesborough and Callinans in Emly.
Huge thanks to everyone who sponsored prizes on the day and thanks to all the motorcyclist who traveled from far and wide to be part of this great fundraiser, to our stewards and traffic marshals, to Tom Dineen Transport, James Breen Tree Care, the local Red Cross Carlos O Connell and his colleague, to everyone who contributed physically and financially, thank you all very much.
The run was also a memorial tribute remembering two bikers who are sadly no longer with us, Tommy T Ryan and Alan Byrne.
