The Irish Goodbye
definition. Leaving quietly out the side door of a party or bar without saying goodbye to anyone.
Personally, I’m quite the fan of The Irish Goodbye as it avoids all the theatrics and overdrawn farewells at the end of the night, but I’ve never considered using the Irish Goodbye whilst planning to hop on an airplane and getting out of the country, as Yvonne Doyle did as she made her exit from Carrigstown this week.
Apart from letting her sister in on her intentions as she handed over the family business Yvonne decided against letting anyone else in on the fact she was off to begin a new chapter of her life in Spain. Yvonne will be missed on Fair City, as will actress Ciara O’Callaghan who has played the Queen Bitch of Carrigstown for so long and has had so many great storylines over the years.
Best of luck to Ciara on her future endeavours. Onwards!
