Old favourites are returning in droves over in Carrigstown to mark the soap’s landmark 25th year, and the one and only Hughie Phelan returned in style causing scenes in McCoys and Spar, with Joe Hanley jumping right in to a juicy storyline on his return as Hughie struggles with alcoholism and poverty. It has been a pleasure having the loveable rogue back on the screen and even after only a few weeks back in the fold, Hughie is easily this year’s Best Returnee.
