Members of Thurles Tidy Town’s Committee are setting their sights on improving on the fantastic result of being named 5th cleanest town in Ireland. It was reported that Thurles scored brilliantly with the playground, Dunnes Stores, Beechwood and Innisfallen residential areas.
The news was welcomed by Thurles County Councillor, David Doran.
The Sinn Féin representative praised the efforts of all those who contributed to the achievement. Speaking with Tipperary Times, Cllr Doran stated: “I’m very proud of our Town of Thurles with the news just announced that we are the 5th cleanest town in the country. The IBAL litter league survey scored Thurles exceptionally well, and all involved that in any way contributed to us getting this prestigious recognition should take a well deserved bow”.
Doran commented on the falsely perceived notion that Thurles was a dirty town. “We were often criticised in the past with regarding the town, dare I mention the comments made by Fiona Looney etc.”
Doran finished by saying “This is fantastic news and everyone should be proud of it, I know I am!”
