So far this year, four people have lost their lives on Tipperary’s roads.

The county’s road network is expected to be very busy over the holidays as people travel to visit family or friends.

Speaking to Tipperary Times, Sargent O’Dwyer of Thurles Garda Station stated that extra Garda Checkpoints will be in operation over the festive period. Sargent O’Dwyer was keen to stress that all road users should reduce their speed and that all passengers should wear seatbelts.

Sargent O’Dwyer went on to ask all road users not to use their mobile phones while driving and not to drink and drive. Concluding, Sargent O’Dwyer wished all the residents of Tipperary a Safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
