Ryan welcomes Proposed Music Hub for Thurles

Independent Cllr Jim Ryan has welcomed a proposed music hub for Thurles. Speaking after it was announced that Tipperary County Council were to apply for funding, Cllr Ryan stated;

“I am thrilled to announce that Tipperary County Council have applied to the Government for funding under its Town and Village Renewal Scheme in order to create a music hub for Thurles. The proposed location is a council owned derelict building in the Slievenamon Road Car Park. This application is as a result of discussions between the local District Council and www.musicgeneration.ie I am really excited by this proposal and is great news for Thurles. Of course it all depends on getting the required funding from the Government so fingers crossed.

“A music hub is a collaboration of various organisations such as local authorities, schools, art organisations, community or voluntary groups etc working together to create joined up music education provision and access to performance music for children up to 18 years of age. It means supporting children and teenagers to make and learn music in creative, diverse and inclusive ways whether that’s writing and performing a song, playing an instrument, practising as part of an orchestra or jamming with a band.”
