Noel Coonan TD Welcomes Funding for Tipp Arts Centres

Tipperary TD Noel Coonan has welcomed funding allocated for The Source Arts Centre and South Tipperary Arts Centre Ltd.

“The Source Arts Centre has been given €4,773 for lighting equipment and a photocopier. South Tipperary Arts Centre Ltd receives €1,906 for IT and digital equipment, music equipment and projector,” said Deputy Coonan.

“These two groups are central to our culture and arts in Tipperary and are worthy of funding.  The funding is being allocated as part of the Department’s Small Capital Grants Scheme and will be used to support arts groups and venues. More than 60 organisations will benefit nationally, with maximum grants of €10,000.

“More than 180 applications were received by the Department, which demonstrates the high level of demand for this worthwhile scheme. This Government is committed to supporting the arts and cultural sector here in Tipperary and across the country. In order to do this we must continue to grow the economy, create jobs and therefore have more money to invest in services.

“Fine Gael has a clear plan to keep the recovery going. More people in work creates the resources to cut taxes for working people and invest in better services, improving living standards for all. This will ensure more people feel the benefits of a recovering economy in their own lives,” concluded Deputy Coonan.
