The Mayor of Clonmel/Cahir Borough District, Cllr Martin Lonergan has launched this year’s Christmas Relief Fund.
Launching the appeal Mayor Lonergan said, “With the Christmas Period imminent, people are preparing to celebrate this occasion with their families and loved ones. However, there are many in our communities who, in trying to provide for their families, are struggling to meet the additional costs associated with Christmas.
To this end, and in the knowledge that we are all in difficult economic times, as Mayor of Clonmel/Cahir Borough District, I am appealing to the people of the District to give what you can to this years Mayor’s Fund in order to make it a brighter Christmas for the needy in our towns and villages.
The monies raised will be allocated to different charities in the Clonmel and Cahir Areas nominated by myself, in consultation, so that those who need support most will get that support.
People have always shown wonderful community spirit over many years and I am always thankful, as Mayor, to the people who donate and help raise money for this appeal each year. I am also grateful to everyone for their kind donations last year and in previous appeals and I’m pleased that we can continue to help those in our community in the greatest need in the newly formed Borough District of Clonmel.
Donations of any amount are gratefully received and can be sent to Mayor’s Christmas Fund Appeal, Tipperary County Council, Clonmel Borough District, Civic Offices, Clonmel, Co Tipperary. All donations will be greatly appreciated and officially acknowledged,” concluded Mayor Lonergan.
