Four-time Clonmel Mayor passes away

Sean Nyhan, a Fine Gael representative held the honour of Mayor of Clonmel Town four times throughout his life, in 1974, 1979, 1989 and 2001.

A special meeting of Clonmel Borough District will he held this Friday morning,11th of February, at 9.30am in the Town Hall.  This meeting will be attended by current members, also former Mayors and Tipperary’s Oireachtas members will be in attendance.

The current Mayor and also a colleague of Mr Nyhan, Michael Murphy, said  “I think it is really important to mention his role as an educator. A former principal of Newtown School in Ballymacarbry and the first principal of St Oliver’s School in Clonmel appointed in 1981 until his retirement in 1997”.

“Sean Nyhan possessed exceptional traits or character. He was one of nature’s gentlemen”.

Reposing at his residence today (Thursday) from 4pm until 8pm. Arriving at St Oliver’s Church, Clonmel Friday for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, followed by internment in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Clonmel.
