A man has been arrested in association with a series of robberies in Tipperary. The man, believed to be in his 30’s has been targeting elderly women and has used various scam’s to gain entry to their homes.
Homes in Tipperary have been terrorised in recent weeks as the suspects went to homes claiming to be an employee of Irish Water and wanted to check radiators, and also as a member of the Gardai claiming to be investigating a rise in burglaries.
Over the past few weeks, homes in Thurles, Cashel, Clonmel and Kilsheelan of elderly women have been targeted.
Gardaí investigating the thefts, this morning arrested a 39 year old man following a search of a rural location in South Tipperary.
The man is being held at Thurles Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act – he can be held for up to 24 hours for questioning.
