We have learned that a con man is targeting Thurles homes in what is becoming a worrying trend to hit the Premier County. Gardai in Thurles have again issued a warning to homeowners to be on lookout for a con man claiming to be a member of the Gardai.
The individual has called to a number of homes in the Thurles area claiming to investigate a spate of recent break-ins by con men. When the individual gained access to a home yesterday, he stole a handbag and a sum of money.
The man is described as wearing a black and red t-shirt and blue jeans. Gardai have also stated that the individual has sallow skin and brown hair and is clean shaven. Gardai also say the individual is aged in between late 20’s and early 40’s and is of medium height.
The worry trend of con men targeting homes of the elderly, especially elderly women shows how ruthless these individuals are. They have targeted homes all around the county. We have recently reported on similar con men around the Thurles-Cashel area as well as Clonmel and Kilsheelan. In some cases, the con men claim to be from Irish Water and the Gardai.
Gardai have asked householders to be on the lookout for an individual matching the description and to call their local station as soon as possible if the man arrives at their door.
