The properties which are vacant are unsafe and unsightly across Roscrea and need to be addressed.

According to local councillor Shane Lee, the presence of these homes which lie empty is unacceptable during a time when we are in a housing crisis.

There are building on Limerick Street in Roscrea which could possibly cause real danger to the public and also takes away from all the hard work which in being done

He says that in particular there are buildings on Limerick Street which are a danger to the public, as well as taking from the positive work that has been done to refresh the aesthetic of the town.

Councillor Lee is calling for a meeting with Tipperary County Council housing officials to discuss what can be done to move forward in restoring these properties to working order.

While speaking with Tipp FM Shane Lee, a local councillor in Roscrea said that many people in Roscrea are annoyed and disappointed to see these building vacant while many people are struggling to find a place to live in the town.

” I receive calls from my constituents asking what about this house and why is this house left vacant when we’re in the middle of a housing crisis. So, it’s not good to see these premises left idle. Sometimes in conjunction with Tipperary County Council and the housing section when they get talking to the landlords of these properties there can be a positive outcome.”

Councillor Lee also said there are other schemes that may be possible to use to bring these buildings back into use.
