The crash occurred yesterday around 2pm in the afternoon during the Killarney Forestry Rally, commonly known as Rally of the Lakes. The car in which the young was travelling came off the road.
The man in his 20’s was airlifted to Cork University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead last night.
Another man in his 20’s, who was the co-driver in the vehicle, was transferred to hospital from the scene and is believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.
The death is currently being investigated by both the Gardaí and Motorsport Ireland.
In a statement last night the Killarney & District Motor Club confirmed the young man’s death and extended it’s sympathies to his family and friends.
