Road Works on the N76 at Seskin & on the Ballypatick Road will improve the safety of motorists – Lonergan

Approved road works on the N76 Kilkenny Road at Seskin, Kilsheelan and the Ballypatrick Road from Dempsey’s Cross will greatly improve the safety of motorists according to Independent County Councillor, Martin Lonergan.

The welcome news comes as Cllr. Lonergan had been made aware of numerous accidents on the stretch of road (N76) at Seskin, Kilsheelan.

Commenting on the news Cllr Lonergan said, “I was recently made aware of a large number of accidents which had been occurring on this stretch of road in the Seskin area in particular, be it in wet or dry weather conditions. I am now advised that Transport Infrastructure Ireland recently inspected the road at the request of the Area Engineer and have instructed Tipperary County Council to carry out mechanical abrasion works to re-texture the road surface increasing skid resistance, the cost of which TII will cover. Work is scheduled to commence in the coming week to 10 days.”

“I am also pleased to welcome news that safety works will be carried out on three bends on the road from Dempsey’s Cross towards Ballypatrick in the next few days by Tipperary County Council to increase skid resistance. A new road surface will be laid on the bends which it is hoped will add to the safety of all road users preventing further accidents, the number of which have been increasing on this road recently”, concluded Cllr. Lonergan.
