“Important opportunities for the public to shape Flood Risk Plans,” McGrath

Independent TD Mattie McGrath has highlighted two upcoming Public Consultation Days which are being organised by the Office of Public Works. The consultations will provide the public will an opportunity to inform the Draft Flood Risk Management Plans which are currently being drawn up by the OPW for County Tipperary:

“All of us are aware of how devastating the recent floods have been.

We also know that local knowledge is extremely important in drawing up any preventative measures.

The OPW will be holding its first public consultation day for ARDFINNAN, CAHIR, GOLDEN, HOLYCROSS, KNOCKLOFTY, FETHARD, NEWCASTLE and THURLES, and PILTOWN, Co. Kilkenny on Tuesday 8th November at the Cahir House Hotel from 2:00pm – 7:00pm.

It will then hold a second day for the same areas at The Anner Hotel, Dublin Road, Thurles on Wednesday 9th November from 2:00pm – 7:00pm.

I would urge all interested members of the public to go along and make their views known at these events.

Again, local knowledge is often the key to putting in place measures that actually work.

It will also be an opportunity for the public to have their say on any environmental assessment reports that they have concerns about,” concluded Deputy McGrath.
