Warmer weather conditions may cause a reduction in potato consumption over the next week. Store materials are very getting low at this stage in the year with most growers now finished selling.
Planting progress is beginning to wrap up with over 90% of planting now complete. Some crops that were planted early in the season are almost at the same stage of development as crops planted most recently, growers attributing this to the colder night temperatures experienced early in the season. Showers across the country last week were welcomed for the development of the early crop. With more dry weather forecast for the coming week, dry conditions could be an issue shortly. Warm day temperatures and breezy conditions contributing to this.
Across Europe there is a good steady demand for exports and prices remain firm, it is reported that this demand could continue for another three weeks. The reduction of stocks is France is causing buyers to seek supplies in Northern European countries.
