  • 900 primary school students, from over 30 schools around the country, to visit the farm over two days
  • 1 in 10 Irish people have never visited a farm and 87% of the general public claim that visiting a farm is beneficial for children

This week, as part of Bloom 2018, Agri Aware (the agri-food educational body), will bring almost 900 primary school students, from over 30 schools around the country, to visit the festival and learn more about growing and farming.

Bloom 2018 is taking place in the Phoenix Park Dublin from this Thursday 31st May to Monday 4th June 2018.

The school groups will visit Bloom on Thursday and Friday (31st May and 1st June).

The children and their teachers will take tours of the Bloom farmyard and the 7-a-day Bord Bia feature. In the farmyard, they will have an opportunity to get up close to farm animals and find out more about farming and where their food comes from. For many of the visiting children this will be the first time they get to see a cow up close and watch it being milked. They will also have the chance to see a sheep being shorn and an opportunity to make their very own butter!

What: Primary school students and the public visit the Bloom farmyard to learn about growing and farming

Where: Bloom farmyard, Phoenix Park, Dublin

When: Preview interview opportunities on Wednesday afternoon (30th May). Interviews with Agri Aware representatives and primary school children and teachers on site at Bloom on Thursday and Friday (31st May and 1st June)
