Sport & Tech 2016 Announce The National Sports Startup Competition powered by Bank of Ireland

Opportunity for the most innovative Irish sport tech startup to receive a €5,000 cash prize toward their business

The Sports & Tech Awards 2016 are proud to announce the launch of the inaugural ‘National Sports Startup Competition’ powered by Bank of Ireland. The competition which will take place on the 26th and 27th of October at  Sport and Tech 2016 provides an opportunity for the most innovative sports startups from across the country to get their hands on a €5,000 cash prize and the coveted title of National Champion.

Sport & Tech 2016 have issued invitations to startups in the Sport & Tech space nationwide to enter the competition. However, if your startup has not yet received an invitation or you know of a startup that you think should be invited you can nominate them here.

Sport & Tech 2016 have secured 150 plus speakers for this year’s conference. The speakers include the most influential of international investors and media, and the most sought after of sporting celebrities, who will descend on Dublin’s RDS along with over 1,500 delegates to celebrate the innovations of what is fast becoming an industry of great significance to top decision makers in sport.

Speaking at the announcement, All-Ireland winning manager, current member of the Sport Ireland Board and Director, Bank of Ireland Munster, Liam Sheedy, said, “More and more sport and tech are converging, the introduction of Hawkeye technology to Croke Park is testament to that in the GAA. We at Bank of Ireland have noticed an increase in Sport Tech Startups availing of our Workbench space and with more consumers becoming health and fitness conscious in Ireland there is a high demand from consumers and sports people for Sports Tech products. As someone who is particularly passionate about Sport, I am looking forward to seeing the innovative products and ideas pitched over the two days. The startups of today are the flagship successful businesses of the future, and we’re keen to partner with them at the early stage to help them build and scale their enterprise on a solid footing.”

Sports & Tech 2016 offers startups the opportunity to gain exposure to investors and media from around the globe, all of whom will be in attendance to find the next best entrepreneurs and groundbreaking innovations. From angel investors and venture capitalists to strategic investors of large corporates, Sports & Tech 2016 is where any sports startup should be aiming to exhibit.

The pitch competition will be one of the highlights of the two-day event where renowned judges consisting of leading angel investors and venture capitalists alongside successful sports entrepreneurs will decide the National Sports Startup victor who will take home €5,000 courtesy of Bank of Ireland.
