“Normally I am not lost for words; but today I am humbled and honoured to such a degree that it is quite overwhelming.

The trust that the ordinary people of Tipperary have placed in me, and the mandate they have given me is a pledge I will honour with every ounce of my integrity.

The people have a sent a stark message not only to the outgoing government but also to any incoming government which emerges; ignore us at your peril.

Tipperary has suffered enormously under the coalition, which is a situation we cannot allow to continue.

For five years this government confused their own mean spirited and petty political agenda with the will of the Irish people.

That illusion has been shattered during the course of this general election.

To that end Enda Kenny has no choice but to resign as his position is now completely untenable.

In particular I would like to thank my family and my extraordinary canvassing teams including my Director of Elections Tom Meehan, who gave everything they had to the campaign and who worked night and day to help bring about this result.

As we move out from here I want to assure all the people of Tipperary-South and North-that I will continue to work tirelessly and fearlessly on their behalf ,” concluded Deputy McGrath.
