Healy Questions if public should Pay Water Bills

“As two ministers are not paying charges why shoud anybody continue to pay new water bills or arrears” quizzed Seamus Healy today as the uncertainty around the future of Irish Water continues to hang in the balance

Minister Finian McGrath and soon to be elevated Minister John Halligan have stated on national Media that they have not paid water charges.

This is a vindication of all those who refused to pay. The non-payers, the demonstrators, the metering resisters have ensured the suspension of the charges

WHY SHOUD ANYBODY CONTINUE TO PAY NEW WATER BILLS OR ARREARS?

Many ill, old and vulnerable people were terrified into paying-water was to be reduced to a trickle, court appearances beckoned.

There should be a full refund.

Domestic water supply in urban areas is now rightly being funded by citizens through general taxation imposed when direct water charges were previously abolished

Water charges should now be fully abolished.

In equity and fairness, group schemes in rural areas should now be funded by government .
