Day 1 of County Juvenile Indoors

Saturday 27th of February from Nenagh Oylmpic Arena. We had 19 athletes competing on Day 1 at these championships for some for the first time at an indoor event. In the Girls 11s 60 metre dash Caitlin Shelly was a good 3rd in 8.23 seconds winning the bronze medal & Aoibheann Fogarty running well was 11th in 9.68 seconds . In the Girls 12s 60 metre dash Aeidín Johnston did well 7th in time of 9.26.n the Girls 10 years 300 metres we had 2 great podium performances Sophie Coughlan was 2nd winning silver in a time of 58.84 with club mate Jane Corcoran 3rd winning the bronze medal in 59.57 with her sister Emma close by in 7th in a time of 61.30 and their cousin Ciara Corcoran behind her in 8th in 62.15. In the Girls 11s 300m Sarah Corcoran garnered a bronze medal in a time of 55.94 seconds with Ciara Shelly close by in a time of 60.80 in 9th place, packing very well together were team-mates Aisling McCarthy right behind in 10th place in 61.60, Rebecca Danagher next in 11th place in 61.96 and Lauren Maher 17th in 66 seconds. In the Girls 12 year Caithlin McCarthy had the longest distance of the girls to run in the 600m and ran well in 14th place in a time of 2:21. Our Girls 11s Relay Team did well in 5th place and Our Girls 10s Relay team won the bronze medals in the 4x100m. In the Boys 9s 60metre dash Going well were Richie Maher in 5th place in 10.74 seconds with James Danagher very close by in 6th in 10.77 with Sean Treacy going well in 15th in a time of 12.08. In the Boys U10s Event Daire O’Donnell won the silver medal in a time of 52.58 seconds he doubled up and competed well in the long jump in 17th place in 2.71m. In the Boys 12s Age Joe Egan won 2 silver medals his first came from the high jump in 1.27m and his 2nd medal came in the 600m in a time of 1:51.38 seconds good going. In the Boys 12s Long Jump Ronan O’Dwyer did well 16th with a jump of 2.99metres.Well done to all our athletes today on their commendable performances.

Day 2 of the County Juvenile Indoors took place on Sunday the 28th which catered for the older athletes.Dillon Ryan an up and coming multi eventer did well in the 14 years age category he was 5th in the shot putt in 7.52m 4th in the long jump in 4.37m and 1st in the Pole Vault. Adam O’Dwyer continued his winning ways with a clearance of 2.65 metres in the Boys 15 pole vault competition.In the Girls 15 years age group Anna Ryan had a good days work winning 4 medals on the day 2 Gold, 1 Silver & a Bronze medal Anna was 5th in the 60m hurdles, 3rd in the Long jump in 4.54m, 2nd in the shot put with a personal best throw of 10.14m, she was 1st in the high jump in 1.46m and first in the Pole Vault in 2.35m. Her brother Jac kalso did well for himself winning 3 medals on the day he was 4th in the high jump with aheight of 1.50metres he was 3rd in the long jump in 5.47m and he was 1st in the 60m in 7.64 seconds. In the 18years ages Declan Ryan was 2nd in the Pole Vault in 2.80m. Daniel Ryan was 1st in the Pole Vault in 2.95m and 1st in the shot putt in 14.22m to round off what was a very good day of athletics endeavours from our athletes.

Fit4life

Continues every Saturday €2 at 9am Walk Jog or Run over a 5k loop from the Community Centre in Littleton New faces Always Welcome.

Juvenile Training Continues in Littleton every Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 to 7:30 for ages 4 to 9 years and 7:30 to 8:30pm for ages 10 years and over. Club Membership of €15 for Junior and Senior athletes is due for 2016 and is compulsory for insurance purposes and can be given at training.

Athletics Ireland Awards

Congrats to brothers David & Daniel Ryan who both won awards from this All Ireland ceremony which took place in the Tullamore Arms Hotel last Saturday 27th of February which is a great honour for themselves their family and the club.
