IFA WELCOMES COMMENCEMENT OF KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER PAYMENTS

IFA Rural Development Chairman Joe Brady has welcomed the commencement of payments under the Knowledge Transfer scheme to 19,000 farmers in 1,100 groups.

Joe Brady urged Knowledge Transfer group facilitators to pass on payments to farmers without delay and reminded that payments to facilitators will only be made by the Department once it is confirmed that the facilitator has passed payment to the farmer.

The Department of Agriculture has confirmed that payments are due to be made to farmers in sheep and beef groups this week with payments to farmers in other sector groups to issue shortly. Joe Brady said the Department must clarify when precisely payments will be made to farmers in other sectors.

Where a farmer has met all the requirements of Year 1 of the scheme, the payment is €750. In cases where a farmer is in two Knowledge Transfer Groups, the farmer will receive a total payment of €1,225.
