CARRICK ON SUIR DISTRICTS FLOOD ALERT UPDATE – SUNDAY 3RD JANUARY 2016 AT 12PM

Just got this from the council No issues expected in Carrick at High tide this afternoon (one pm approx ) .The Quay is now all cleared of water but the road is still closed because there is still a pump on the road and the on going clean up . Can I just say a big thank you to all outdoor council staff who stayed working up to 11 o clock last night and were back at it at 7 o clock this morning. Cllr David Dunne

CLONMEL AND CARRICK ON SUIR DISTRICTS FLOOD ALERT UPDATE – SUNDAY 3RD JANUARY 2016 AT 8AM

Tipperary County Council Crisis Management Team reconvened at 7.30am to assess the flood situation in the lower River Suir catchment area.

In relation to Clonmel, Cahir, Ardfinnan and Kilsheelan, the River level is continuing to stabilise and the overnight rainfall has not materialised to the level initially anticipated. The situation will continue to be monitored on an hourly basis given the forecast for the next 24 hours.

In relation to Carrick-on-Suir, there is an ongoing issue on the North Quay and additional mobile pumps are being deployed to manage the water levels at this location.
A further update will issue at lunchtime.

A meeting will be held in Littleton Community hall on Monday Night, January 4th at 7:30 to discuss ways to raise money to help those affected by floods.

The council outdoor staff were still pumping water off the quay at 10 o clock tonight .

Davis road by Lidl and Dunnes is quite dangerous water building and cars dont see it until too late SLOW DOWN

Update – Saturday 2nd January at 8pm

River levels in the River Suir are currently at 3.802m and based on anticipated rainfall between midnight tonight and noon tomorrow it is predicted that the critical level of 4m for the Kilganey area of Clonmel will be reached.

Following a meeting of the Clonmel Flood Response Team a decision has been taken to activate level 3 of the Clonmel Flood Response Plan and proceed with the evacuation of Kilganey.

Arrangements are currently being made to individually contact all families concerned advising of the need to evacuate.

Families are being directed to the Clonmel Park Hotel as an initial gathering point to ensure that all families are accounted for.

The relevant statutory agencies will be liaising with the relevant families concerned with a view to identifying suitable alternative accommodation where necessary.

The situation in relation to other areas of Clonmel issued with a precautionary evacuation notice will continue to be monitored.
